| Your Young Marine will go through the first training, known as recruit training. All new members are recruits until they complete this training cycle. They have to earn the title "Young Marine." The basic recruit training cycle is shown below. | ![]() |
| Worth mentioning is this: the recruit training cycle familiarizes the new Young Marine with the basic knowledge in various subjects related to the program. It also helps them to evaluate their own physical fitness and encourages them to strive to be a better person, both physically and academically. After recruit training is complete, the training will continue. Physical training is a regular part of our program. During the course of a year your Young Marine will also receive classes such as first aid, CPR, fire prevention and home safety and land navigation. | |
| LEADERSHIP is a subject that is learned as they progress in their Young Marine career. The Marine Veterans of the unit will coach them up on leadership traits and principals. The Young Marine program has leadership schools at the junior, senior and advanced levels. Young Marines from our unit have attended (and excelled) in various leadership schools in Florida and California. The unit will also go on encampments (camping trips) and will normally include training at those locations. There is an annual field meet, a competition amongst the units in Florida. This provides for a lot of fun while continuing their training in physical activity. There is Training within the unit in a variety of subjects. This builds morale, encourages teamwork, and helps to strengthen the life of your loved one, your Young Marine. NOTE: EACH RECRUIT TRAINING MEETING IS SEVEN HOURS IN LENGTH AND FOLLOWS A STRICT TIMELINE. BE ON TIME FOR THE FORMATION WHICH BEGINS EACH SESSION. THE FOLLOWING SCHEDULE IS TENTATIVE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE, BUT IS PROVIDED TO GIVE YOU, THE PARENT, THE GENERAL IDEA ABOUT THE SUBJECT MATTER AND LEVEL OF SCHEDULING FOR THIS PROGRAM.
